I went thru the carbs again tonight and did find something, while the small hole directly over the pilot jet into the bore within the slide on both carbs was open the hole leading forward from the pilot jet to the bore in front of the slide(toward the engine) was plugged on the right side carb. This could very well have been my problem. I carefully opened it up and blew it out. I checked the float arm height on both carbs and found them to be a bit high (with the carb upside down) off about a mm at 12.5 or so. I adjusted them to 13.6mm and made sure that the arms were the same side to side. Hopefully I will be able to get the bike back together this weekend and see how it runs. I will let you know when I do. Thanks for your input.

That would definitely mess up the right side idle, and other engine speeds to a much lesser degree. Glad you fount it. Are you sure all of the jets are clear?

Well, I reinstalled the carbs and ran bike and while the exhaust noise was more balanced it still is not even. Darn, I went thru the carbs pretty damn carefully using numbered drill bits in the jets to check that they are the same size. Everything looked pretty clean. Bike starts right up and runs well, I made sure both slides enter the bores at the same time and adjusted each side separately. On the road bike seems to run well, I was just going to ride it some but now front brake is sticking on me. I believe one of the brake hoses is collapsing or plugged so I have to fix that first. Well at least the bike looks good.

I rode this bike a bit the other day and it does run well, the slight unbalanced exhaust at idle doesn't seem to cause any problem at speed. I have no lack of power starting off in 1st as I have heard some complain about, the only thing I have to get use to is the somewhat large gap in gear ratios between 1st and 2nd. Second gear on up is great and I can tell it really wants to be opened up. My riding season is going to be done here soon with the cold weather and I will probable pull the carbs off again and take another look at them but can't say what I am going to find as I went thru them very carefully the last time.
