Wanted a good set of carbs for a 1972 Honda CB500K. Those of you who know me, don't start with the I thought you have a ton of parts comments. I was recently robbed by someone of ALL of my SOHC carbs, and that included my spare set of CB500 carbs. FYI do not provide with any of the current EBAY links as I already have been watching that site regularly to see if anything turns up. So any leads would be appreciated.

Nothing first hand, but found this a couple days ago in CL for my area. If it's of interest, let me know and I'll see if I can check it out for ya while I'm here.

Thanks but I already got enough parts bikes. I only really want the carbs, not an entire bike. But if you are interested in picking it up and parting it out I will pay a decent price for the carbs.

Thumbs up to ya Stu!
Wish I had the $ to even think about it CHocko. If I could afford it, I'd be looking at it as a possible replacement for my current long run rider (03 V-Star Classic with a jury rigged final drive). _________________ "There is no man living that can not do more than he thinks he can."

Stu,
The number is 627B, which is for 1971-3, and it should be stamped on the carb body somewhere. Let me know what the cost is, plus shipping and I will gladly compensate you for your time. Much appreciated. Figured someone would know a salvage yard that would have this stuff.

I know for sure there are a number of 627B racks out there, but condition varies due to being out in the weather for a long time. Price will probably vary depending on condition. Can you handle a rack that's stuck, or do you need it to move freely? Last rack I bought was stuck, but it cleaned up well and works great. Let me know what you'd like to pay (other than free ) and the maximum price you'd be willing to go for a really nice set. I'll get you the best price/condition I can. Q: How fast do you need it? Q2: Do you need anything else, like airbox or manifolds?

My current set which is on my bike is ok. So it is not a rush thing, as this is for my personal bike. But the bike is not running the way it should be which I traced to two bad carb chambers, bent needles, etc. I replaced the needles and the chambers, but I want a set that is not pieced together with a combo of 500 and '74 550 parts. What I am looking for is a rebuildable set carbs, as I will be cleaning and rebuilding them. I would prefer them to move freely, and my max price is $225 for carbs. Last night I got a good lead, so let me follow up on that first and I will get back to you.

CHocko,
Glad you're not in a rush. I'm running into some issues here. I've got 2 bikes to get finished and delivered before I leave on a 3 week vacation to Barber on Oct 1st. With the time remaining and due to parts delivery issues, I'll never make it, let alone have time to drive to the bone yard and troll around for a set of carbs. I WILL get this done for you, if you can wait till I get back.

Stu,
Go to Barber, and enjoy yourself. The set that is on the bike right now work, and will do for now. I just recently found out I got a air leak in #2 and #4 intake manifolds, so I have manifolds coming from Honda. They should be here sometime next week. In the meantime I got two bikes to strip and B100P parts to go find for a guy in Australia, so I can wait until you come back.

CHocko,
I spent over three hours in that yard on Tuesday in 105 degree heat, mostly looking for CL450 parts. But I did look for carbs for you. Most of the early 500s are now missing their carbs, and the 627B racks that are still out there, at least the ones I found, are locked up solid. Going again early this morning to avoid the heat, and I'll look some more. There's a trailer full of carbs there protected from the weather. But there must be thousands of racks in there, and they're just heaped in on top of each other with no organization at all. That'll take a while to sort through.

Thanks, Stu. All my SOHC Honda Carbs were stolen recently. This all occured while I was in the process of moving to a larger warehouse. In the bunch that was taken was my spare set of CB500 carbs, and a lot of wheels. From what I could gather is that this guy appears not to be a scrapper but someone who knew motorcycles and knew exactly what to take. Fortunately, for me at the time most of my carbs for the DOHC stuff was moved to the new location before this occured. So keep me posted.
