I've got two '68 Cobra's. Among other things, I've found the following link helpful http://www.ozebook.com/compendium/t500_files/tech.htm Their description of how to modify the oil level in the 68's was particularly helpful. The following link should help you with the year of your bike based on the VIN. A VIN in the fourteen thousands is certainly a 68. One of mine is in the 14's as well and it is a '68. Good luck and enjoy....
You know it is also a 14621 but the regie says 67 so I figure being it is a late production date. As I remember in the auto industry (25yrs) we used to have late 79 cars that were actually considered a 1980 in body and design. Now this bike according to input received on this forum does not have the short 67 wheelbase if that was common on the original 67 this one has the long wheel base. And the vin starts with 14 so it could be a early production 68 with a 67 title. Still a nice little bike and more complete than most bikes I have looked at.

I agree with the above. My 1968 Cobra has a matching VIN / Engine number, 13558 - as we know the ID plate on the steering column has no manufacture date but this bike has always been titled as a 1968 (purchased new in Iowa in '68 by original owner). My 1970 T500-III also has matching VIN / Engine number 29227 and the ID plate gives a build date of May 1970. PS I have the original owner's manuals for both, tool kits for both, and I have original shop manuals for both (they differ slightly based on their print dates, photos of the bikes in them, and a few other things). However, the owner's manuals and shop manuals are fundamentally the same. As noted in one of the posts above the Cobra has some different parts than the rest of the Titans like fenders, gas tank, metal left side cover, oil tank design, guages, etc... And for those who don't have original air pumps like me (one for the 68 Cobra, one for the 70 Mark III) here is an interesting reproduction goodie
1967 t500 project
need some pics of this bike to restore it, if anyone has any tips and trick as well as info I would appreciate the help. I have 2 numbers off the frame one is a 14621 and the other 1482 don't have a year stamping and am trying to find a motor number.
Thanks in advance
Hey Allegro40/41, any progress on the Cobra? And, what state are you located in? I have a 68 T500 Cobra and a 1970 T500-III. I have learned lots of things while working on both. There are critical differences in the parts between the two and we certainly could make a list here of the parts unique to the Cobra (vs later year t500 models). I am not an expert and did not do complete restorations on either of my T500s. The 1970 is mostly original and just needed the usual light restoration stuff to get it going (some top end work, clean gas tank and carbs, locate missing parts, etc...). The Cobra was a bit more involved and I took over where someone else left off. By the way, the VIN plate on the steering column will not have a date - those plates did not get a date until the 1970 T500-III. Also, the VIN on the steering column plate should MATCH the number on the engine. The engine number is stamped onto the engine case, facing up, at the extreme rear of the case directly adjacent to where the swingarm is attached to the frame. If the numbers do not match, then someone changed the engine at some point (to my knowlege the engine numbers match at least through the 1970 model year).
I have started finding the parts here and there Paul did get me some prices but I have not been able to afford it though. and now I have a little 71 zuki ts 90
