Has anyone attended the Rice-O-Rama Vintage and Custom Japanese Motorcycle Show
and Swap Meet annual event in North Brookfield, Mass during September?
http://www.rice-o-rama.com
They have several things going on during the event including
a large amount of awards for the bikes that are shown.
But we wondered if it was worth traveling to, or if it was more of
a local type event.

I have been there quite a few times and I know the organizers very well. It is a very huge event. As with most events in New England it is more show then swap. But if you know what you are looking for you can probably get some very rare parts at a bargain price.

Thanks for the advice.
We had no idea it was "...a very huge event" as you described. |

I've been to every one of them, had a good time and spent many hours picking through the HUGE swap meet. _________________ 1982 Kawasaki KZ1000R1 ELR

I will be there but I will not be vending this year. As it is too much work for too much money. This time I need to be doing some parts hunting of my own. Not to mention it will be fun to exact my revenge on some of these guys by lowballing their stuff for a change.

Where's the spirit MR.CHocko, you should know by now that you're supposed to buy high and sell low. It's what keeps us po' folks comin' round lookin' for parts and keepin you company.

There is a difference between trying to ask to lower the price and insulting the vendor by asking an extremely low price. To quote Paul Miller,"It is nothing but a bunch of bottom feeders." As far as bargaining goes when I vend I am open to any offer. Just do not offer me an insulting offer. But seriously, after two years of continously vending there it is time for me to go out and walk around as I am seriously in need of a set of CB500K carbs, and a 70's era sissy bar.

Difference in making a lower offer because you need to keep it budget and being a d1ck. It's when you gently put the used part you need down, thank the seller for his time, and walk away. So if you know of anyone with a 750 DOHC motor, lead him to me. I need one. _________________ 1982 Kawasaki KZ1000R1 ELR

I do have some DOHC parts left over from my Nighthawk motor. I would have sold you the whole thing, but some idiot decided to scrap it without asking me first. All I got left is a few tranny pieces, clutch basket, shifter forks, etc. Fortunately, for me that idiot is now working for me for free for 2 years to pay back the motor he decided to scrap. Now if you need SOHC 750 F and K I have a whole motor in pieces. Trust me there is a difference between someone telling you that a CA77 petcock body is worth $10.00 when YOU KNOW THAT this particular part hasn't been made in over 30 years and is worth a lot more.

I had my monthly scrap pile set to go. Mostly frames without titles, bent handlebars, stuff that is not sellable. Someone saw this CB750 Nighthawk motor laying around, and decided to put it in the pile without asking me. By doing this he just cost me $5000 in parts that he decided to scrap for $1.00. Does it get any clear then that.

Anyway, $5000.00 loss as parts equates to 2 years for that indentured servant that works for you? Please tell me that it is very part-part-time work and he gets a cot in the back and three free meals a day. _________________ _________________________________

This guy works part time, if he worked full time it would have just been a two weeks. Right now there is not enough stuff going on this time of year for someone to be full time. There was a few other parts that this guy decided to scrap as well without asking. But the main one was the motor. There was 4 50 gallon drums filled with stuff, and he takes a darn motor.
