I would suggest you bite the bullet and buy 2 sets of points.
What you have may be the originals (45 years old), and if that's the case, the other set may not be far behind in failing or giving you inaccurate settings.
This is the sort of stuff you can chase your tail on for days and weeks.
Eliminate a potential sure problem.
That allows you to address others that will pop up after this problem is solved.

^^^^^I agree^^^^^^^ Eliminate the sure (known) problem. There's a place for JB WELD (but I can't think of any) but this isn't one of them.
You'll spend time chasing your tail. Wink

the jb weld was just to put the point I have back together, It worked it just has a little crack that makes it bend out of shape. Im ordering 2 new points tomorrow. The one that is still good Is not an original it has like an engine turn finish on it and different markings. Im going to replace them both but I think I'll keep the newer one as a back up. I still have the key switch and some other wiring to address. Im growing very fond of this bike, I know the wife and I are going to end up fighting over this one
