That is one sweet looking Titan! If there was an award in motorcycling for 'most under-rated achiever of it's time' the T500 would have to be a medallist!

YES. Wow...that is one good looking T500.

So...back to the vacuum port on the left carb. I have found that my bike has a minor air leak somewhere causing it to idle...oh, about 500-rpm higher when warm. I rode it for about 20 miles, hitting speeds of 65-80mph and then put it on the stand running and sprayed the heck out of every joint - intake boots, intake cylinder seam, heads, cylinder-case seam, you name it....I sprayed it. Couldn't find any evidence of a leak.

I know I'm having a problem with my petcock. I don't think it holds any vacuum at all. In fact, I know it doesn't. It bleeds fuel on every setting. Would this cause the airleak symptom? I'm fairly certain its on the left cylinder since the idle is a little different than the right. To me, it makes sense. It doesn't blow enough smoke to make me think it's an oil seal.

Can I just plug the vacuum port on the left carb? What would people recommend? JB Weld?

You probably need to repair or replace the fuel petcock. If they carb needle leaks any, it will leak all over the floor and fill up the cylinder with gasoline. Mine did not have one when I bought it, instead it had been replaced with a bunch of brass parts from a hardware store. I didn't want to spend the money on a new factory petcock ($110), so I bought one from here. I got the PN PM81-2305 for $44 USD plus shipping. They also have a petcock rebuild kit for $38 on the same page.

If you use the manual one, you can put a simple cap from the auto parts store on the tube (3/16") coming from the left carb to plug it.

Dude - so awesome. Thanks a million.

I'll check out that site and see what my options are.

Ans yes....I recreated the Exxon Valdez on my garage floor a few times. What a mess. Gas everywhere. I did get it to start eventually on the first run about 3 months ago and it just burnt up all the fuel on the highway, blowing a smoke screen everywhere. It was pretty funny. My brother was driving behind me in his car to make sure I got from Y to Z alright and said the cloud was huuuuuuge. Ha!
