Zeldor has spoken.....

Very Happy Very Happy Laughing Laughing

Heck, it sounds possible to me. But, without the cable, it would still 'stomp' into gear and such. I took it to mean it WON'T go into gear...

I'm just stealing that "I'm getting a vision..." line from one of the guys over on the Honda SOHC4 forum. I thought it was funny. Laughing

Be careful, Yamaha made a "Vision" and I will gladly brag that it is the best mid size sport touring bike not made by BMW!

I have a feeling the expression from the SOHC forum does not really mean they are getting a Vision but the "Vision" would be an excellent alternative to those lovely old Honda's (oh, I just love a restored 350 four, they are soooo darn cute!!).

The Yamaha YCS1 and YCS1-C are notorious for having bad transmissions. They almost all developed bent shift forks, shift drum problems, and rounded gears that slip out. Your problem may be in the ratchet mechanism on the shift drum behind the clutch or some combination of problems. I owned a new YCS1-C and started my mechanic career on these bikes years ago when they were new. The 180 Yamaha had among what I call one of the worst transmissions Yamaha ever made.
