Hi,

I'm restoring an old Suzuki B105p that's been sitting in a shed for 25 years and am having a problem getting a spark.

I replaced the coil and checked all connections several times.

All three wires from the stator seem to sending voltage to my tester. I have an inline spark tester and get a weak light when the plug is in the hole but I can't get the plug to spark when grounding it on the head. I've tried grounding the plug in other parts of the engine and still get no spark. I accidentally touched the coil cable when turning the engine over and got quite a jolt. It seems like something is happening but I can't figure out why the plug won't spark. I also changed the cap on the wire and tried about 5 different plugs.

Any ideas out there?

Thanks,
Mike

What is the condition of the battery? If it is a bad battery try removing it (make sure the positive wire's not touching the frame) and kick it over. You should get a stronger spark. Then get a new battery. Is the new coil 6V? Also check the condition of the points, if they're dirty the coil can't build up a strong magnetic field. Also make sure you have good grounding on the breaker plate and condenser.

I think I see your problem. Looking at the second picture, I noticed that the engine is missing!! Smile
Sorry, I just had to do it.
