Here is a tough one. I need the brass float for a YDS3. One of mine is really beyond repair. Two brass hoolow pucks with tang in the middle. Any leads would be appreciated.

Come on Steve, you know some of us can't do anything without a picture. Post a picture, maybe we can help.

Paul, you asked and you shall recieve. Here are pics of the YDS-3 float. You guys will know more about me than most. I also attached a sketch I just drew. I am an engineer/draftsman with 4 degrees, one being technical illustration. I work on 3D Cad every day and love to draw. Check it out. BTW, I still think the 1960's YDS-3 bikes Yamaha made were some of the cleanest lines on a motorcycle ever. Damn, I am falling in love again!

I wonder if the dimensions are the same. The diameter has to be so it sets on the gas fluid level correctly. 1.20 Diameter. I had some here but they were not the right diameter. What is that one for??

Honda CB350. I had an old one laying around somewhere. If I find it, I'll measure the float diameter. Or maybe someone has one handy to measure?

cmsnl does not have a listing for the YDS3 just YDS5 parts. Bummer. I already tried a CB350 carb as I have several and the diameter is indeed different. I could try and put this in and start the bike but the damaged repaired float is heavier and would act a little different but it does not leak???????

| I may have a YDS3 in storage. Let me go check. This bike is beyond saving, it has been underwater several times.

Worst I have ever seen also. But 44 years of froze then thawed then heat then froze. It is crinkled beyond repair.
Choko, worth a shot. I would appreciated it. I know it is a PITA to dig the old girl out and take carb off, then bowl. Maybe there would be some other parts I could use, who knows.

Steve,
The YDS5 and YDS3 take the same float: 156-14185-00-00.

I did a little more research. The same float is used on the YDS3, YM1, YM2, DS5, and DS6 series. That should make it easier to find used.

Thanks. 105 psi on cylinders is not alot. SHould I see if it will run??? Or don't even mess with it and just sell it as is?? I don't want to make a lot of effort for a float when the bike is not going to be restored by me. We'll see.

Steve,
Go ahead and get it running, 105 psi is not going to be the reason it won't start. If all goes well and it runs smooth but lacks power or starts harder when hot. Maybe a hone job and rings will get your performance up. Being able to run it will make selling a lot easier if you chose to go that way.
