I may have a used one. But I will have to check my inventory. Another good place is speed and sport inc. They only sell Yamaha parts.

Slurpee,

Your pictures took me way back in time. As soon as I saw them I pretty well knew what you had. Back in 1968, I bought a 1966 Big Bear Scrambler from a buddy of mine. Here's a pic of me as a kid with my high-water pants on. I was stopped to talk to another friend who was in his 1966 396 Chevelle. That was a great little bike -- lots of fun. Ended up selling it to buy another used bike -- a 1969 CL 450 Honda. Hope you get yours dialed in and cleaned up. You really got a find there.

Slurpeefied, your problem sounds electrical. First off, get a new battery, this will give you a good base to start with. Pull apart the electrical connections and clean them, reattaching with dielectric grease. Remove the ground bolts and clean up the contact area. Determine the correct resistance for the plug caps ( likely 0 ohms or 5000 ohms) and replace them. If the high tension plug leads can be removed easily, replace them. If they are sealed into the coil and can't be removed, then cut off 4mm at the cap end, and twist on the new caps. Pull apart your fuse connections, clean them and throw away the fuse. Make sure you buy replacement metric fuses. There is a difference. These are all things you will have to do sooner or later, so it's best to do it first to give you your best shot at tuning.

most recent update: the bike went for its first ride today. it's so freaking loud lol but so much fun...still needs more tuning but for first ride it was great. it still cuts in and out as far as what cylinder its running on but when both are at it, it fly's lol...its actually much faster than i thought it would be. the speedometer doesn't work :/ and i'm fairly sure the carbs will need a rebuild...but other than that a fun couple spins around the block went well except that im unsure of how long of a ride it would be able to handle..it doesn't seem like you could just get on it and ride all day even if in best running condition <--could be wrong, just first impression. fxray awesome pic...the bike looks brand new, same exact thing as mine. i can only hope this one could shine like that Smile

I think you should leave it stock unless the original pieces are so beat up that they are unusable. 2C

If you need any other parts in the future I just picked up one of these bikes for parts, it is in very bad shape all around but still has usable parts.

I've been reading your discussion forum and thou i am also new to the whole metric 2 stroke bike scene i feel i might be able to shed some light on this problem. i myself have recently been restoring a 72 ds7 and i was having the same problem as you with the bike running on one cylinder or the other. just as steve said its probaly flooded buy new plugs but never dump your throttle when you open your throttle up to much and to fast with these bikes they tend to fowl out the plugs so just ease it back be pacient ad the power will come. another thing you might want to do is clean the carbs one more time and reajust your points. the point on my bike where also shorting out on the back breaker plate. there is a little plastic piece on the back of the screw that hold the point on make sure its there and not like cracked and falling off as mine was or you will short out your points. also check the points condensers and make sure they are still good. i hope this helps and good luck
