That's not brutally honest. That's foul-mouthed and offensive. I'm known among my colleagues and customers for being brutally honest (call it tough love), but even I wouldn't have said that - not to someone's face, and not on the Internet. If you choose the right words, you can tell a person to go to Hell, and have them looking forward to the trip. But foul language and saying someone's ideas are foolish won't get the job done.

Stu

"Only a fool uses shit on their motorcycle" is foul mouthed and offensive?

I tell people to their face all the time not to use shit like RTV/Permatex/silicone on their motorcycle engines and if they foolishly do anyway, I will have nothing to do with fixing their engine when it breaks.

'fasterspider' did not call him a fool or say Doug's idea was foolish. Doug had not even used the stuff yet and as a self declared novice as are many of us members, it certainly was not foolish for him to ask. Now, IF Ray had said "Only a fool would even consider using that shit," that would be a different matter and appear to be more directed to the poster. 'fasterspider' even rephrased the comment by saying "... if one uses shit on ones motorcycle, one is a fool" before the thread started to snowball even further. I can't say I like everything he says in the forum and I jumped all over 'fasterspider' one time long ago about a comment in a thread about somebody else. He must of felt he was wrong for posting it and he made it right with the other member. Anyway, this is how I looked at the situation. Hopefully, it is time to move on to 'new business'

It is time indeed dor. Time to stop this foolishness. We can all look at our character defects and I certainly have my share. No, I'm no tough guy. Sensitive? Sometimes too much so and I have to deal with it. Could be one of my "defects". Fasterspider...If I have said offensive things to you, I apologize. Not looking for anymore back and forth skirmishing. Thanks dor helping me see that it's "unbecoming" of us all. All I can do is keep my side of the street clean. Regards, Doug

If I offended you with my style, I apologize.
I am here to help people with their motorcycles and my blunt, direct and sometimes brutal statements are not meant to "Hurt your feelings", they are meant for you to wake up on the spot and know you are about to fuck up and I don't want to see that happen.
So, I am sorry if I hurt your feelings.
