Higher octane rating doesn't mean that the gas is cleaner. It has to do with the levels of octane in the gasoline. _________________ 1974 Honda CB550 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlZoksL5K7s

Lower octane fuel is dirtier than higher octane fuel, that is a fact.
That is why it costs less, it is shittier making it less efficient. _________________ Ray #1

I REALLY HATE quoting Wiki, but I sold back all of my undergraduate org chem books.
Oh well, Gasoline isn't octane; its more of a mixture of lots of hydro carbons. "Pure" octane has a Mon or "octane rating" of 100. The impurities you might be thinking of in lower octane gas are lower mon rated hydrocarbons. Higher rated gas has more larger hydrocarbons.
Take a look, next time you are in the quicki mart, at the octane booster, its mostly Toluene.
Gas at the pump is just hydrogen and carbon. Unless there is water in there or ethonal (an O2 group stuck to good gas). Whether it comes in hexane or toluene its not dirty just ignites at different temperatures and pressures. _________________ 1974 Honda CB550 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlZoksL5K7s

The problem I have with 91 is that no one else uses it so it's old. I mean it. I live in a rainy climate but still. everytime I use 91, I get water with it.
