Hello everyone, I am new to working on motorcycles but I have spent a lot of time underneath cars. I recently purchased a 1974 CB360 and am working on a somewhat low cost restoration from the ground up (i.e. painting, polishing, restoring as much as possible rather than buy or chrome plate parts). I will post pictures of the rebuild when I get the bike down to the frame (and before pictures).

My first question (probably of many): does the chain on the this motorcycle have a master link? I may be going blind if it does as I looked for quite sometime.

Yes motorcycle chain has a master link. Also if your motorcycle is original paint, it is best to keep it that way versus an frame up complete restoration. The CB360 was only made for a few years making it one of the more desireable motorcycles that Honda made during the 70's.

Oh, boy. For Bill (tpbmusic), that's like waving a red flag in front of a bull..... Laughing

It may or may not have a master link - some came with an endless chain.
If so, it's original and 35 years old - cut it off and trash it.....

Kirk - I don't pass judgment on other folks' personal tastes.
If someone asks me directly what I think of 360's, I tell 'em.
Otherwise I just try to be helpful.....

My personal opinion on the CB360 is that it was perhaps the worst motorcycle Honda ever made during the 70's. But I am honest enough to admit that I did own a '75 CL360 Scrambler. To this day I am regret ever selling that motorcycle. But to collectors of 70's Hondas the CB360 is one of the crown jewels.

The paint is original and with some polishing, came out about as good as 35 year old paint can. I'm taking it down to the frame to properly remove 35 years of dirt/grime and repaint the frame. I should have pictures up tomorrow as I'm about an hour of work away from having the entire bike stripped.

Also, the reason I purchased a CB360 (I looked for one in decent condition for 6 months) was that my father had one when I was a young kid so it is kind of a throwback for me.

How about this statement: The Honda CB/CL360 is the most controversial motorcycle Honda ever built that has been discussed on the VJMOG forum. That much seems to be true.

Nice looking 360. With that 50 gallon drum of racing fuel, you may change the minds of some of the naysayers!! Shocked

What a cute little guy. Don't get it drunk on that racing fuel or it may do crazy things. (Like go 65 mph) Ha, just kidding! It is all in fun, little CB360. We really love ya.
Am I crazy or am I now talking to motorcycles??? I got it BAD. Laughing

Yeah, actually that first picture is when I picked the bike up inside the PO's garage. I live downtown so all the work is being done on the roof a parking garage or in my kitchen.

Kitchen??? I can tell you are not married or else you have a very understanding SO. It is OK however as the CB360 does not eat that much.

No wife, I have one kitchen sink for cleaning parts and one for paint thinner. The bathtub is my small parts paint booth and my closet is being used for curing.
