Going to look at a 1967 Yamaha YL1 on Sat. Guy said it was a two stroke twin 100cc titled 1967 so.. I am assuming it is a YL1 Twin Jet. I hope so. What can you tell me about that bike. Seems like a neat little girl. I hope it is in decent shape. I will post pics when I get it. Probably buying an RD200 with less than 100 miles on it in the same trip. I am stoked!! Anybody got any pics of a Twin Jet YL1 1966-67????

Ha, finally gotcha. You thought I was serious with my new years resolution, I could tell. WRONG! I will continue to buy every good deal vintage jap bike that comes my way. I might even buy one at Mid-Ohio just so you don't get it. Even if I don't want it, just to piss you off.

That is exactly a YL1. Did you know top speed on these babies can be 93 MPH with GYT kit!!

A twin jet is what I used to get my Motorcycle License! Having never ridden before, I drove it around a small city block twice then drove it to the DMV about two miles in traffic. The tester stood smoking a cigarette and talking to somebody while I went around a small parking lot stopping once (I was told to make sure I stopped at the stop sign). Got my license and drove it back to the girl I borrowed it from. Good ol'days?

Well, here it is. The newest addition to my obsession. A 1967 Yamaha YL1. They called them a Twin Jet 100. You could really get the girls if you had one of these. Ahh..I would have been 12 if I would have boughten it new. Oil injection, twin, actually pretty fast. I read they had one of these going 93 MPH with the GYT kit on it. I need a "GYT" kit. Flat tires, saw blade holding seat on, etc. Why do I do this????

How many motorcycles are you up to now? Leave the saw blade.....a fella never knows when he might need one while on the road. Why is the gas tank on backwards? Ahhh...The 1960's  ....you gotta love it. Thanks for your part in preserving these old bikes.

Good idea. I may need to hacksaw my way out if Jack Bauer is not around on my cycle trip. Well, that still leaves me somewhere in the 60+ range of number of bikes but it was too much work to count them all so I just gave up. I REALLY appreciate your comment about preserving these bikes. I feel that it is a little part of history. Yamaha made excellent small two strokes for a number of years. They were the king of two strokes. The Twin Jet was quick because of two cylinders. They only started importing in 1962-63 so this Twin Jet is a pretty yearly Yamaha. Probably not a ton of them left in the US so I will have one for people to see the history. Thanks for noticing. I do a lecture presentation on the history of japanese motorcycles and find it fascinating. Not real long after we dropped the bomb on Japan did they want to start selling little motorcycles to the US. Weird.

awesome old yamaha. There has been a couple of them for sale on ebay in michigan last couple of months just did not have any luck picking one up. Found me a 68 suzuki b100p instead for a winter project
