I've noticed in some pictures that CB77 Super Hawks have "High" and some have "low" handle bars. Were the lower ones a option? I know they are not Clubmans or drag bars.

The low ones were original - at least my '63 had them when it was new.
They had a small amount of rise and pullback, but not much - similar to early 450 bars.

Thanks for letting me know. I have a cl175 and want that type of bars for it. Just wasn't sure what I should be looking for.

Good luck with that, they're pretty hard to find. I'd like some myself.
Early CB400F bars are a similar match, but also hard to find.
Cable length also has to be adjusted.

Oh I know, won't be easy!
May keep an eye for something similar.

This is the strange thing with Super hawks. Both the high and low bars are correct for that bike. There maybe people on here may know more about then I do but it seems that the dealers would change the handlebars on these bikes when they were on the show room floor. It is sort of like the early models having the painted lowers, but were often replaced with chrome ones by the dealers.

I bought the very last NOS/NIB CB400F handle bar from Honda and it is on my CBX now. Wink

MR.CHocko, I hear what your saying! I'm into(don't have any now) Studebakers, they are a "dealer driven company" in the 60s also.
They look like drag bars, but,,,,,different. Odd !

Now that is a classy car. They always did have very nice lines, well most of the cars of that era did. Anyways I did some digging through my collection of Superhawk literature and some of the notes I took when I get the chance to talk to the survivors of that era. The low bars are the Japanese/European riding style. The highbars are the American style. If you wanted to sell a bike in the United States in the 60's you had to have high bars. Now don't get me wrong not all bikes that sold in the United States had high bars, but it was understood in general that the Americans preferred high bars versus low bars. If you don't believe me look at 50's and 60's era Triumphs. You will see a change in bar height.

I believe you! It's funny though, if you look at the old ads most have low bars. Now if you go on internet and look at classifieds they have High bars. Point is, what your saying must be true. We Americans seem to have been into cruising back then, versus "sport".

My 305 had low bars - so did the 305's (CB's) of everyone I knew in this area...........

Of course, I don't think I could bend over this far anymore, might get stuck in that position !!!
Note the "bubble" goggles (red-hot technology in 1963)........
