I got hit by one of those "un-insured" idiots a few years back, & my insurance covered everything, but had to go after the guy.. Still, my CBX costs less than $200.00 a year..not too bad I guess.

Well, you got the same thing here in Mich, buy ins. get plates, cancel, drive on, but woe be to you if you get in an accident. In addition I live 8 miles north of Indiana State line and they only need min. coverage or none, and it's a state where you aren't required to wear a helmet, in fact every state around Michigan has no helmet law, Ill. Ohio, Wis, Ind, I love being near 80-90 aka Indiana Toll road at the time of year Sturgis is going on, there are groups of 10-20 bikes every few min. and 99 % are wearing helmets even though they are headed through 3 states that don't require them. There should be some reasonable uniform ins. code for all states. I know the helmet law in Mich almost got repealed but was stopped because of the driver/owner/operator had to carry add. ins. which would be unconstitutional, but yet we still pay the add. cca (comprehensive claim adjustment). Just to set it straight, I would still wear my brain beenie, whatever and whenever, well maybe I would change when cell phones in use while driving are outlawed along with being able to see over the steering wheel or driving 23 mph in a 55 zone or cars came equiped with a motorcycle perimeter warning, seems like if they can build a car that turns wipers on at the first drop of............Man, I got on a rant, sorry....Blue

So we are getting a little of the subject, (not really) but I saw a thing on tv some time ago about this 60+ year old guy that rides motorcross on a H-D Sportster, the interesting thing is he usually finishes top 5 and does this sitting on the bike facing the rear, so if I was an ins. person, he would be deemed uninsurable, speaking of ins., just got my updates from American Modern and the wifes hog was $170, my 79 Yamaha was $170 and my 2000 H-D was $300. I had to call to find out, was it because it was 1550cc or because it was as new as 2000, none of the above, shame on me for not paying attention, been paying the extra $130 a year for collision ins. alledgedly till the bike was payed off, WHICH OCCURED IN 2004 DUH! As you might expect they told me I should have said something, so I will now be paying closer attention, cause they ain't gonna be no rebate...............Blue

Just registered my bike today and took it for the first long ride outside of the neighborhood. Made my first insurance payment, too.
Never been on a motorcycle before, haven't taken an MSF course (planning on it), and this is my first insurance policy I've ever opened and I got it for $149 dollars a year! Of course, I do drive a 250.
