Free to a good home... frame from a 1969 cb350. No title and not much else, but its a nice frame and I would hate to just throw it in the dumpster.
So, if you want it, come and get it. Located in Northern Va. Im willing to deliver it locally for the small fee of a couple of good beers. (no PBR or other swill), but Im not willing or able to ship this thang.
Easiest way to reach me is email jho2 [at] comcast [dot] net

Dude, I'm in Chesapeake (Virginia Beach area). Is that too much to ask if I offer a 12-pack of something mighty tasty and some gas money? It never hurts to ask, right?

It just occurred to me: my in-laws live in Richmond, if that makes it easier/more likely... We'll be in town this coming weekend.

Chesapeake might work. I pass through there every few weeks on my way to my parents house in North Carolina.
I will let you know the next time I am coming that way.

Hey, bud

Talked to my wife about it. (I was going to build up the bike for her to use as a started bike) She doesn't want another project "lying around" until I can finish the existing ones. It makes sense I guess, considering we're moving in a couple months.

Thanks anyway.

Thanks Jeff! I hope you enjoy the beer. I got my '71 up and running today and took it for a 30 mile test ride. I'll continue to ride it while I work on the frame you hooked me up with. Hopefully next winter I can swap the motor from the old bike to the, er... older bike. We'll have to meet up for a ride sometime. There are some nice scenic roads around Clifton that work well for our bikes. I noticed the sweet spot is right around 50mph. It'll do 75mph but it's not happy to be there.

sorry, it was dark by that point and there wasn't any room in the car for me to even bring my camera! It was a tight fit (that's what she said).

If it'll only run 75 mph, it ain't running right. I had two 350 Hondas: a '69 CL and a '71 CB. Both machines would redline the tach at 95 mph with me (6 ft tall, 190 lbs) laying flat on the tank. Both machines were stone stock, bought new off the showroom floor, no mods whatever. I put 19,000 on the '71 in the first year I owned it. Living in Yuma, AZ, as I then did, I had no need of a car and rode the bike everywhere. Believe me, I KNOW what the CB350 will do.

Ya at 90mph I wasn't redlining, but I'm only 125LBs at 5'8". (The bike doesn't seem small for me. Laughing ) For a while I felt bad for making the bike scream like that, but I got over it.

It'll do 75-80 all day long, 1 tank of gas at a time.

The 350 Honda twin is entirely bullet-proof. The only way you can hurt it is to drain the oil, start it up, and hold it wide open until it either explodes or locks up tight. Short of such deliberate abuse, it'll stand against anything you throw at it. One of my friends took his 350 to a hot-rod motorcycle shop, had a cam put in it, a different set of carbs. When they were done, his machine would rap 14,000 revs. He had straight pipes on it that dumped IN FRONT of the footpegs. At 14 grand, the noise was bad enough, you'd think it would break glass but it didn't, quite. He rode that thing all over, twisted the hell out of it all day long. It was still running good when he sold it three years later.

Ya, the racer guys crank way more Rpms with a different cam and stronger titanium lifter springs.

Usually on a stock bike, the valves will float and you loose power long before it blows up. Laughing

Also I think the racers use the CL's instead of the cb's. My cb redlines at 9,250 RPMs. I think the CL's redline at 10,250 or so to start with. If you've got deep pockets, and you want your 350 to run like snot, these guys are near the top, for upgrades.

I change my oil and clean out the centrifugal oil filter WAY more than is recommended. I check the oil level every time I get gas. I've been 500 miles from home on a Sunday and couldn't get any motorcycle oil without friction reducers. (the stuff that's supposed to be bad for wet clutches)

I was told by people with more experience than I have that any oil is better than no oil. I've topped up with 10/30 car oil to get home, then I did a normal oil change.

I don't know if it'll do more than 75 because I haven't tried. Yet.
