Well next time, If you just put one washer on the sprocket then you will have one you may want to use on the clutch hub shaft..pretty sure it is the same size washer..it is on mine. Just slightly bend the very edge of the washer all the way around the very edge before you put it on, tighten the nut on, pry edge down a little more inline with the nut flats, and then just tap them down.

Before taking the clutch cover off tomorrow.. I would wait and see if another Tc250 owner can comfirm that your kickstart shaft assembly is set up with a stop bolt outside .. The parts diagram does not show one..unless it is on a page I did not see.

Couldn't get it to idle and had done everything I could think of to the carbs. Took the coil off today and Tested out ok. Put it back in and away she went! Runs real good and idles ok. Still have to tinker with the mixture some. Took her for a ride, my second time on an X6. The first was 43 years ago! Just like I remembered.....GOES LIKE A RAPED APE!!!!!!!!!!!!! A good day!

Doug,
Fun to hear that you've been able to do lots of work with the Scrambler!
I would highly recommend getting the workshop manual for the T20 on eBay. I got that before my dad and i started on our engines. Makes working on the engine alot easier. It also explain the kickstarter spring tension good.
Most likely the spring is shot. If it still is good, then they hadn't been able to tension it from before. There is no screw on the spring tensioning. You have give it tension after you put the case together again.Outside of the oilseal on the kickstarter shaft, there is a circlip. You have to remover it.Push the shaft inn some and the twist it about 150 degrees clockwise (you'll most likely need to have the kickstarter on since it gets heavy) and then pull it back again If you look at the other side of the shaft, you'll se why you have to do it this way. I'm really bad at explaining, but hope it make some seance.
Before you take the engine apart you can try to tension it, just in case they hadn't been able to do it before. Take the clutch cover off and remove the kickstarter gear, remove the circlip on the opposite side and try to tension it.

I sure had to laugh when I read that your Scrambler GOES LIKE A RAPED APE!!!! Hehehe.
They are alot of fun and has some power to it. But it sure likes to have some RPMs. It's quicker from 0-50 than my T500 Cobra.
Tell me if you end up taking the engine apart. I might have some tips when you put the case back together again.

If you do end up splitting the crankcases, it might be a good idea to look at replacing the bearings aswell, because if they are loose at all then your bike will run poorly as an end result. I learned this the hard way when i was restoring a 74' Yamaha dt. Anyways, its releatively enexpensive and you can see videos of how its done on Youtube.

Thanks. I did end up splitting the cases but was unable to locate the proper bearings. Had to make a judgment that they felt tight and seemed good to me. Still awaiting new cylinders as I messed up the old ones. Live and learn I guess. Someday, this bike will be on the road again.
