Two of my bikes are going in a Museum. The Midland Dow Museum and center for the Performing Arts is copying what Guggenheim did with their motorcycle show. They are having a two or three month long showing of motorcycles over this winter of unique, custom, or classic motorcycles.

Last Nov., I filled out the applications for entrants and sent along the required 8x10 color glossies of a couple of my bikes. Figured what the heck, its winter, I'm not going to be doing anything with them, might as well see if they were interested in them so other people could enjoy them.

Just got a phone call from the museum.

My 1971 Penton 125 Six-day and the 1964 Honda RC174 GP replica I built have both been accepted to be on display for their version of the "Art of the Motorcycle".

SO any of you around the Saginaw Bay area or the eastern part of the mitten, be sure to check out the display at the Museum. I'd have to check, but its from like early part of January to sometime in mid-lat March I think. Haven't a clue as to what other bikes will be displayed.

Congratulations! How about posting some details when you get them - sounds like a good way to spend a winter day.

Well, here's the Penton. 1971 six-day. Not restored, it is original condition, pretty much just like when I bought it in 1972:

THis is the replica of a 1964 Honda RC172 GP bike that I built. It started life as a 1976 cb400f, but it was near death when I got it off of ebay for a whooping $200.

Hi all, Jon just posted the information for this event on the VJMC calendar. He also posted the info for the Novi, Michigan Cycle World Show January 2nd - 4th.

Charlie, I've been looking forward to meeting you. We're taking around 7 or 8 bikes to Midland - a 1959 CS92, a 1957 JC57 and several others. Bruce Winslow has accumulated a very impressive display of bikes considering they are all from Michigan. I encourage all of you that live within a reasonable distance to visit the Midland Center for the Arts.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to all!

Andy Nichols

Cool, Andy! I changed the thread title from Japanese bike to bikes!!!

WHen will you be taking the bikes over? No way can I do the December dates. I'm looking at the Jan 3rd with the 4th as back up. Maybe we need to try and arrange a VJMC day at the museum for a get together, a gathering for bikes , a few beers, some good food and of course, good old bench racing. Was looking at the website for the museum. See they have an opening night party.
