Just wondering about you fellow cold weather guys. When do you stop riding? I mean how many ride in 30 or 40 degreee weather? Anybody ride when the snow flies? Also wondering, do you have to adjust your driving techniques as the streets/tires get cold? I've never ridden in cold weather.

Tomorrow, as I understand from the weather channel.

The older I get, the less inclined I am to ride in the cold.

Never get old, Chris, it really sucks.

I'm probably older than you in years Bill but I refuse to be old in spirit.

My commuting season ends when the active Hurricane season starts - August / September. Just too hot and usually too rainy virtually every afternoon.

Saturday / Sunday rides? Year round, baby, Year Round! Twisted Evil

Ah, you Florida/Kalifornia guys give me a pain in the butt.
You just cannot believe how cold it gets up here around Lake Michigan.
Our real riding season is about 7 months, usually. Even then it's cold for 3 of those months.

year round here in Iowa, but just when the mood strikes I'm retired and don't really have to go anywhere, here's a cold weather/snow rig

The nice thing about Maryland is that if you don't like the weather, give it a day or 2 and it changes. Even mid winter, a sunny day and something close to the 5 0 means a chance to charge the battery the "right" way. Cool

I ride all year long. Although I don't commute on my bike in the winter,I try to ride whenever the roads are clear. Sometimes the snow is gone, but the salt and gravel that throw around hangs around a couple days. I try to get out with a couple of my buddies just for a couple hours-helps me get through the winter. I have ridden when it was snowing, but not on purpose. Sometimes the storms just sneak up on you.

I got my bike in the fall and it was barely running. By the spring I had it running pretty good and I was chomping at the bit to get out and test it. But, I'm so thin, I get cold in August Embarassed

When the roads are dry, I ride. Short, quick testing rides usually less than a half hour. My next door neighbor sold me an electric vest. "Widder" Since I got a rectifier from Oregon Motorcycle Parts my battery can handle the extra power draw. To my disbelief, the vest works better than expected. I have ridden in snow, (sneek up snow) and ridden through hail. 32 F is just a number, but snow, ice, wet leaves, twigs, sand and salt are dangerous. Usually I'm checking out the motor, I'm not carving corners in the winter months. I have a dentist appointment today and hate taking mass transit with a frozen yap, so I'll be riding today. Very Happy 20 min, there, 20 min back. Transit would take over 2 hours. It's 1 mile to the top of my street for ciggies, I'll be riding till road conditions change. Then it's officially fixen season. Wink
