You, me, and every other 450 owner wants one of those things.
The only one i have is for the later CBK6/K7, they came with the grab bar that mounts the turn signals, and it's pretty funky.
Good luck - if you happen to find two, call me.

Well, don't rush out and build a factory or anything - there aren't that many of us, after all.
But I would bet most of us want one, both the pre-grab bar models and the grab bar 450's.
Gotta have some place to carry yer' stuff !!

We found two original Honda Line luggage racks for the CL450, at Mid-Ohio this year in the third row,
from the main entrance, in the Swap Shop.

One was N.O.S. still wrapped in the brown Honda paper and the other was used with no dings or dents - $35 cash for both.

Brown's Plating re-did the "used" rack better then new and we decided to keep the factory wrapped N.O.S. one, for a backup.

They are around, but look for the "Honda Line" stamp for original factory pieces.

The nice thing about the Honda Line rack is that
it fits perfectly with no alterations or bending, etc.

Actually, the used one Browns Plating re-chromed
for us, looks nicer than the brand new one, that is still
in the wrapping. Custom American chrome vs. Honda
factory plating I guess. But having a second NOS one is nice.

I remember the guys name was Tim Sutherland, who
had the booth and he had lots of NOS Honda 450 parts
spread out on two tables, most still in the factory wrapping.
for bargain prices. Two of these racks for $35 was a steal.

How much did Brown's hit you for the plating??
They do excellent, fast work.

$45 .... but we stripped the old chrome off in our shop, then bead blasted and polished the raw steel rack.

So all they had to do, was re-dip and polish it, no preparation. The chrome looks an inch deep!

Hey smi481 (or anybody else) How is the chrome removed from from items such as the luggage rack. Special set up at your shop or what. I have had a lot stuff showchromed on the T500 but not this luggage rack yet. My show chromer quoted me several months ago(about the time the cost of nickel soared) $200-$300. I think that $ spread is pretty big, but I guess he was just covereng himself, and that spread does not include tax. I think he said something about all the intersections make some luggage racks very hard to do. I can see where stripping the chrome off yourself could save alot of money. Anybody else done this? Here is the pic of my luggage rack..it is pretty big. Click image to enlarge..

here is a place some one else tolt me was fairly cheap at re chroming parts.

Name: Antique Chrome Shop
Address: 1925 Massachusetts Ave
Indianapolis, IN

Phone: 317-383-0390

I found the info on another web sight They had pics and every thing they re did a lot of parts like 10 or more one was a fender one was the engine cover, kick stand, etc price was around $120 for all the parts together.
I will e-mail you the link if you wish but the forum requires you to log on to view the pics.
I am sure this sight would not allow linking to other motorcycle sites.

Archangel -

There's no problem here at this site with posting a link.
I know I'd be very interested myself, as chroming is very expensive, and I usually can't afford it.
so give us the link...

Thank you for the reply, the phone no. you supplied will suffice. I realize now that the more pcs. you send a chromer the better the overall price. All the stuff that I sent to my chromer were sent just 2 -3 pcs. at a time....as I could afford it. I know now that was a mistake. Everything was also "triplechroming" which I think means they plate it with other material before the final plating. I will email the company you supplied to me a picture of the luggage rack. I think I will just have a regular chrome done on it. The trunk that I use on it will probably scuff up the rack or moisture trapped under it causes light rust. I may still try to mechanicaly remove the chrome - maybe with a "Brightex" wheel I found out about after I posted this question. It is made by Caswell Inc. I will call Antique Chrome Shop and see what they say. Thanks again! Very Happy edit: 1.11.09 I am not sure after re-reading info about the "Brightex" wheel if this is used to completely remove chrome plate, I have an email into Caswell Inc. now. Confused
