I have a 1980 XS850 Special. That's my daily rider. BTW, does anyone know what cruise control will fit that bike? I had a cruise control on my '78 750 Special in 1978. I suppose they're still around somewhere.
I also have a 1985 XJ700 Maxim X. My son rides it. We love our Yamahas! _________________ Always remember, wherever you go...there you are!

I sold my XJ900RJ model,at 72,000km, to a very BIG bloke who felt he needed to have a spare bike for when his current earlier XJ900 began to play up. He told me he had a daily commute in all weathers of 150km.He said his old XJ was starting to feel 'a bit loose' with 320,000 km up.He said he had not ever had work done on the motor other than oil changes.
When I showed him that there is more than one drain plug under the XJ900 cases and that if you don't use them all you won't ever get a decently fresh batch of oil in it he was surprised. He'd only ever used the main plug.(I didn't know either until I studied a manual about 3 oil changes into my time with the bike.) When I gave him the bottle of specific oil for the diff he was really confused. He'd never checked the oil in the diff on his 320,000 km XJ let alone changed it! The XJ series were/are one strongly built line of bikes!

SRX6 Bought off ebay 4 years ago.
Someone's seriously molested race toy. Been a parts chase, converting wire wheels back to standard, then a chain of woes when it dropped a wrist pin clip and the mechanic missed the bent con rod, necessitating a second rebuild. Fingers crossed, it will come back better than new, mechanically and I can get on with the cosmetic resto. and little running gear improvements. I won't be anal about every last detail of originality
I really like the bike, probably will have it for a very long time. At least until I can't kick hard enough to start it anyway.

Here we have some-one who really likes a single-cylinder, modestly powered bike. Can you tell us why?I think I have a pretty good idea why you do but I'd like to hear others banging the same drum.
my 750 seca was the first functioning bike i've bought. she's heavy but she runs like a dream but to be fair about her weight, my previous bike was a honda cb360.

heres my bikes...
1981 XJ550 Maxim
it was originally a black bike. im the 4th owner and bought it in 1992. i parked it in 1994 when i got out of the Air Force. in 2007 a couple of co-workers hounded me to get it going so started cleaning it after a 14yr lay up. owner #3 got it from #2 after #2 'walked' it under power into the door of a parked car and banged it up. i had to get the clutch cover welded because the JB weld was leaky, i had the tank re-bondo'd and then painted and added the graphics (paint not decal), replaced the fender and some turn signals. it has 12,100 miles on it...
1982 XJ750R Seca
because the 550 is really too small for me to run back and forth to work (in my opinion) i picked up this 750 last march. i got run off the road in July and bent the bars, broke the headlight bucket and banged up the instrument cluster. ive got a new (used) cluster en route and ive replaced the headlight and bars already. i did nothing with it last fall because i had torn my left ACL. i didnt know it until my MRI the day the knee buckled and i broke my arm. it has about 18,300 miles on it...
1983 XJ900R Seca
this baby is one of only about 1,000 imported into the states. it was sold as only needing the carbs cleaned and installed. the carbs needed $400 in slide diaphragms, $200 in tires and another $500 in brakes, fork seals, oil, engine and final drive fluids along with a bunch of other nit-noid stuff. ill have about $1,400 into parts and labor when i get done with it. i dont do very much stuff on my own because i dont really have the facilities or the time. it should be on the road (after insurance and plates) in a week or so...
2008 XJR1300
i dont own one of these and its not really a vintage bike, but i would trade all of the others for the opportunity to own one. theyre not available in the states but i know people who know people who could maybe get one imported for me if really pressed the issue. that and Mama gave the green light...
Hi, I'm new here and thought I'd share a few photos of my TZ750A. I've owned the bike since 1976. It's a 1974. When I was much younger I used to ride it on the street. Still has a Michigan title. I've returned it to close to original condition so no more riding it unless I decide to take it to a track.
