I've checked the bearings for play as you described, just as an easy check, and it didn't have any play. It also wasn't tight, either. Smooth from side to side.

My experience is that rattle cans won't hold up to even a splash of gasoline. They'll run, get soft, and discolor.

| Yep, the LTD as well as a few other Kawi small twin models of the early 80s came with a belt drive. Not sure about the standard KZ400. The KZ305CSR and 305LTD and GPz305 all came with belt drive. |

No, Dan, totally different bikes.
The CB400F is an in-line four motor.
The CB400 of '78 on were twins. All the various models - T, C, E, Automatic, Hawk, Nighthawk, CB, CM - all twins. |
