If you put the clip on the inside (toward the wheel) you lessen the possibility of something snagging it and popping it off. (closed end facing rotation).
Be certain of proper wheel alignment too. ... |

There is nothing on that bike that is measured in inches except for the tire diameter.
The headlamp size is 160mm as measured across the lens.
